The district administration has initiated a process to recover the Government land encroached by the Dera Sacha Sauda Ashram in Puri.
Sub-Collector Madhusudan Das announced this on Wednesday. After an inquiry ordered by the district Collector it was ascertained that the ashram has encroached nearly 12 decimals of Government land. The Puri Tehsildar has started the eviction process as per the instructions of Das. Demarcation of the land was done on Tuesday in presence of the Tehsildar.
“The inquiry report has been received, they have encroached nearly 12 decimals of land. The Tehsildar has already initiated a case against them, an eviction notice will be sent and we will reclaim the land,” said Das.
According to sources, the ashram had bought four acres of land in 1977 on the Puri-Konark Marine Road but grabbed another 12 decimals Government land subsequently.
