The deepening work of six ponds and disposal of soil was completed with the support of farmers, saving Rs 21 crore of Indore Municipal Corporation. The work was facilitated by water works in-charge Balram Verma under the instructions of Mayor and MlA Malini laxman Singh Gaud and Commissioner Manish Singh.
With the help of farmers who voluntarily took deepening work and disposing of soil using their own resources saved Corporation’s Rs 21 crore.
The farmers near Bhorasala pond, Yashwant Sagar pond, Sirpur Chhota pond, Bilwali Bada pond, Bilwali Chhota pond, Talawali Chaanda pond participated in the work.
After the deepening work, the capacity of the water storage has increase by 170 crore liters and in the process 16.70 lakh cubic meter soil was removed. If corporation had paid the rate would be Rs 127 per square cubic meter and which would cost around Rs 21 crore.
Water work in charge Balram Verma said that the instructions given by Mayor Gaud along with the deepening work were removal of encroachment from catchment area, construction of railing at ponds, beautification of ponds.
Meanwhile, In charge of revenue department Suraj Kero provided information that citizens could benefit by paying advance payment of taxes. Those payers would be eligible for prize scheme apart from discount of 6.25 per cent on depositing advance property tax and 6 per cent on advance water tax before June 30, 2017. The municipal headquarter and zonal offices would remain open till late in the night on the last date of the deposit of tax on June 30, 2017.
