After paying tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Morhabadi Ground, Ranchi on his death anniversary on Monday, Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee launched renewed attack on old lines during one day Jan Vedna Sammelan organised there. Hundreds of Congress workers led by Congress Implementation Committee Chairman and former Union Minister Subodhkant Sahay accompanied by former and sitting MlAs, MPs and office bearers from districts sat together in Sammelan to question policies of central and State Governments.
A resolution to celebrate Birth Centenary of ex-PM Indira Gandi with full of programmes across the State was also passed during the Sammelan.
Taking Prime Minister’s statement in which he had begged 50 days to bring situation after demonetization back to normalcy seriously, the party has decided to organise Jan Vedna Sammelan at any roundabout of every Block of all 24 districts of the State. The leaders present there in Sammelan at Morhabadi Ground on Monday included State Congress President Sukhdev Bhagat, State In-charge BK Hariprasad, Deputy In-Charge Tarachand Bhagoda, Party leader in Jharkhand Assembly Alamgir Alam, All India Congress Committee (AICC) Secretary and MlA Paresh Dhanani, Rajyasabha MP Chhaya Verma and Pradeep Balmuchu, ex-Minister Gitashree Oraon and representatives of district and block level workers among others.
Sahay led the attack by asking questions from PM Narendra Modi over demonetization and Raghubar Das over CNT/SPT Acts amendment efforts. “Demonetization has broken backbone of rural economy and amendment efforts of CNT/SPT Acts have resulted in firings and killings of innocent people. Demonetization remains one of the biggest frauds in recent times, launched to help just a handful of big companies. More than 100 people lost their lives and there appeared no worries or feeling of remorse to government over it,” said Sahay.
Sharpening attack on union government policies, Bhagat said that PM couldn’t give answer to questions raised by Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi over demonetization. He also questioned move of amendment efforts in CNT/SPT Acts by State government.
Before that, Sahay and other Congress leaders paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his Death Anniversary on Monday. Sahay said that the society needed to follow teachings of Mahatma Gandhi. He said that the society was increasingly losing followers of Gandhi idealism.
