Enhancement in power production in Uttarakhand would be beneficial for the state and the country as well, as it will help increase the employment opportunities, opined the chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat while interacting with the chairman of National Thermal Power Corporation Gurdeep Singh when the latter visited the CM residence on Saturday.
CM assured Singh that the state government would go all the way to support NTPC in its projects. He also highlighted the need of joint venture of NTPC and Uttarakhand Jal Vidhyut Nigam limited (UJVNl) for lohari Nagpala (Uttarkashi), lata Tapowan (Chamoli) and Khasiabad (Pithoragarh) hydro power projects. He stressed on the timely completion of the ongoing power projects as it would prevent cost escalation as well as ensure early benefit for the people. He further said that he had positive talks with the Union minister Nitin Gadakari on the stalled power projects in the state while hoping that the stalemate would thaw soon.
NTPC chairman on his part suggested promotion of electric vehicles in the cities to reduce the level of urban air pollution. CM took the opportunity to request NTPC to extend help in the beautification of the Badrinath temple.
The secretary power Radhika Jha, director commercial of NTPC S K Gupra and regional executive director of NTPC K K Singh were among those present during the meeting.
