To mark the Hindi Journalism Day on Tuesday, the Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat laid the foundation stone of a multipurpose building at the Press Club here and announced Rs one crore for the construction of the same.
lauding the role of the media, he said that spectrum of the journalism has been expanding fast with the technology advancing by leaps and bounds, begetting new forms of media. “Being the fourth pillar of democracy, the media should focus on authenticity of the news they disseminate in tune with the people’s expectations,” he said, adding that the media persons nowadays work under tremendous pressure with the challenges turning more and more daunting with the advancement of time. “The role of media should not be confined to merely writing stores. They should also come up with constructive suggestions which would help us find out solutions to the problems plaguing the society,” Rawat said. He also remembered the role played by the media in the formation of the State. On the occasion senior journalists -Jagmohan Sethi, Charu Chand Chandola, Somwari lal Uniyal, DS Kunwar, Dr Devendra Bhasin, Ramesh Puri and IP Uniyal aside from the additional director (Information) Dr Anil Chandola were present.
