Young people who are making a change for children called as change loomers shared their journey at an event held at Harda on Monday evening. They shared their work with Chief of Communications of UNICEF India Alexandra Westerbeek and Michael Juma, Chief UNICEF, Madhya Pradesh. These change loomers are selected youth who are part of project being implemented by Synergy, NGO with support from UNICEF, Madhya Pradesh.
These change loomers are oriented and trained to work on project of their choice for children of their community. They have taken up projects in the area of sanitation, education, health, disability and gender discrimination. They shared using various forms like music, dance and drama to reach out to communities and even people who make decisions for them.
Alexandra Westerbeek Chief of Communication UNICEF India says that it is important to for them, by them and with them to enable adolescent and young people to transform their lives and community. The young people and children who they have reached out were part of the event.
Michael Juma, Chief UNICEF, Madhya Pradesh said he was delighted to meet committed young people who are making a difference to lives of children. Geetanjali Master, Communication Specialist UNICEF India and Anil Gulati Communication Specialist, UNICEF, Madhya Pradesh were part of the event and the visit.
On Tuesday they visited Nazarpura village of Harda districts where they met with 'Bal Commando's', women and panchayat members who have helped to make that village open defecation free.
And later on they met youth and adolescent who are trying to understand sustainable development goals, observing them in reality at ground and would be disseminating information on the ground reality. This project is being implemented by NGO Bharat Calling in Itarsi area of Hoshangabad.
