Around 2,000 BJP workers who took out a rally in the town here on Tuesday protesting the irregularities in crop loss estimation and highhandedness of the block officials went on a rampage.
After reaching at the block office, they broke the gate and barged into the office where they smashed everything like office furniture, glasses of doors and windows etc.
The minimal number of police force could only act as mute spectators. They shouted slogans against the State Government and the local MlA.
later, they submitted a seven- point charter of demands for the Governor through BDO Khirodra Padhan in the presence of Tehsildar Kamaljeet Das and IIC Niranjan Padhi.
Meanwhile, the Nimapara MlA and the Block Chairman condemned the act by the BJP workers .A complaint would be lodged, stated the BDO.
Former Minister Samir Dey, BJP district president Pravanjan Mohapatra, ZP Member Purnachandra Ojha, Manas Pradhan, Pabitramohan Mohapatra, Stalin Das, Milan Mukhi, Atish Pattnaik, Minalata Mohanty and Purnachandra Sahoo among others were present.
