Even as the Block Grant (BG) has been a bone of contention for long, because of paltry salary and no service career to the beneficiaries, the Block Grant teachers have been made to pay a price for holding agitation by way of denial of salary of a month.
The 662-college teachers have fumed against the uncertainty over getting their salary for the month of June, 2016. While it is said that they have been punished for holding cease work during the time on the principle of no work no pay, it has raised eyebrows for the utter disregard to democratic values by the State Government which has not desisted from punishing its teachers for holding agitation to get their legitimate dues.
Though the Government is not paying proper salary and other benefits under its Block Grant policy, forcing thousands of teachers and employees at college and school level to take to streets most often, the latest instance has exposed its true skin as it has withheld the miniscule grant provided to the Block Grant employees during the period they held cease work, opined intellectuals.
“Already nearly a year has passed but we are yet to get our salary for the month of June, last year. We have submitted the bill for the salary but to no avail. The authorities are also clueless as to when the salary will be released,” lamented scores of aggrieved employees.
Notably, the 662- college teachers and employees had held an agitation by shutting down their institutions pressing for Grant-In-Aid (GIA) at the State capital during June last year.
