The top functionaries and the executive body members of the Dehradun Bar Association will be elected by its 2468 members on Tuesday. The results will be declared in the evening. A close contest is likely for the posts of the president and secretary, say the voters.
Meanwhile, all preparations have been completed for the DBA election. The election officer said that the voting would be conducted between 9.30 am to 4.30 pm on Tuesday.
Five candidates each are in the fray on the post of president and secretary in the election. Five candidates who are contesting election for the post of president are Anupama Gautam, Mukesh Mahindra, Rajeev Sharma, Shiv Charan Singh Rawat and Surendra Pundir. Five candidates who are contesting election for the post of secretary are Ajay Bisht, Anil Kumar Sharma, Anil Pandit, Prakash T Pal and Raghubeer Singh Kathait. Two members - lalit Bhandari and RS Bharti -are fighting election for the post of librarian. Two candidates Amit Dangwal and Bhanu Pratap Sishodiya are in the fray for the post of joint secretary. Five candidates are contesting on the post of vice- president and they are Alok Ghildiyal, Kali Prasad Bhatt, Manjeet Singh, Manoj Kumar Sundriyal and Mohammad Aasif Khan. Three candidates - Alpana Jadli, Ashutosh Gulati and Jagdish Prasad Sherwal- are in the fray on the post of auditor. Dehradun Bar Association sitting secretary Anil Gandhi said that the members who were yet to pass All India Bar Examination would not be allowed to vote. “Those who have passed AIBE will be allowed to vote after they show the relevant documents to the election observer,” he added.
