Dejected and frustrated over the Orissa High Court upholding the decision of the State Government to scrap the June 23, 2013 appointment of 169 Revenue Inspectors (RIs), Assistant Revenue Inspectors (ARIs) and Amins in Balangir district, a retrenched Amin, a resident of Rameswar Nagar, allegedly attempted suicide on Tuesday.
The retrenched Amin Nirmalya Swain, daughter of Satrughana Swain, reportedly lost her mental balance and had hanged herself in her house. However, her family members broke open the door of the house and admitted her to the District Headquarters Hospital here after rescuing her.
Notably, the 169 RIs, ARIs and Amins had been given appointment in Balangir district in 2013. The Government, following detection of a large-scale scam in the recruitment, scrapped the appointments on March 4, 2016.
later, those who were retrenched had moved the Odisha Administrative Tribunal (OAT) against the Government’s order. The OAT had ordered for reinstatement of the retrenched employees. But the Government moved the High Court challenging the OAT’s order. The High Court on Tuesday upheld the Government’s decision, annulling the appointments.
