At least seven BJP leaders were arrested and forwarded to court on Wednesday for violence and vandalising property of the Nimapara block office on Tuesday.
The Nimapara BDO lodged the FIR in this connection against 1,000 BJP leaders and party workers for damaging property in the block premises, obstructing public servants on duty and using obscene languages with criminal intimidation.
Those who were listed in the FIR included Puri district president Pravanjan Mohapatra, ZP Member Purnachandra Ojha, Purnachandra Sahoo, Tapan Bariha, Pabitra Mohapatra, Manas Pradhan, Milan Mukhi and Prashant Swain, among others.
