7 Bills taken up in House in first session: Speaker

The first session of the fourth Vidhan Sabha functioned for a total of 11 hours 35 minutes from March 24 to March 28, said the Vidhan Sabha Speaker Prem Chand Agrawal. Addressing the media persons in the provisional State Capital Dehradun on Thursday, the Assembly speaker said that during the first session of this Vidhan Sabha, a total of seven bills were taken up for debate in the House.

The Vidhan Sabha speaker further informed that during the assembly session, a total of 90 short listed questions were received by the Vidhan Sabha. He opined that the assembly session which had started with the Governor’s address was conducted peacefully with the experience of senior members and enthusiasm of new members. Out of the seven bills discussed during the session, the Sri Guru Ram Rai University Bill 2016 and the Quantam University Buill 2016 were passed with amendments. For the Uttarakhand public servants, the annual transfer bill and Uttarakhand lokayukta Bill were referred to the select committee whereas the Uttarakhand Cooperative Committee (Amendment) Bill 2017 has been re-established, he informed.

Twenty six out of 30 questions received under rule 300, one question received under rule 58, one statement and 11 informations received under rule 53 were accepted for the attention fo the house. In total five questions were unaccepted and out of the shortlisted questions one was answered with the others being under consideration, informed the Vidhan Sabha speaker.
