A 40-year-old man was killed by his younger brother with a Trident (trishul) in a fight late in the night on Thursday.
The injured man was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead. Police received information from the hospital.
The deceased was identified as Inder Singh of Karond who was attacked by his younger brother Dileep Singh after a fight late in the evening.
According to Jehangirabad police, the accused is absconding and a manhunt has been started. It is said the deceased used to live with his younger brother Dileep Singh and parents in Ravidas Colony earlier and later shifted to Karond. The deceased used to visit the house frequently on which the accused used to object and fight.
On Thursday, when the deceased came in the evening they had a fight over visiting the house and parents and family members intervened to pacify Dileep but the verbal spat turned nasty and the two engaged in a scuffle and later Dileep attacked the deceased with a Trident which lead to his death.
Based on the preliminary investigation, a case under Section 174 of the CrPC has been registered and after receiving the post mortem report, a case under section 302 of the IPC will be registered, said police. After the preliminary investigation, the body was handed over to the family.
