Friday, 30 June 2017 | PNS | DALTONGANJ

Gross negligence of electricity department and lack of awareness not to ride or over step any fallen electricity wire took four lives in Palamu on Thursday June 29.
SK Nayak OC Manatu police station said the electricity department just did not bother for the fallen 11,000 volt high tension wire at village Siknee under this police station as the fallen electricity wire was live and was not neutralized.
Nayak said lack of awareness not to ride or step on any fallen wire led to the instantaneous death of Keshwari Singh ( 40) his daughter lalita Kumari ( 8 ) Singh’s sister Sabita Devi ( 22) and Sabita’s son Nagender Singh ( 2 ½ yrs) on the spot.
Nayak said the four were on a tvs and their bike touched upon the fallen wire leading to their death on the spot.
The tragedy has sent shock waves in Manatu and Daltonganj as people are too angry with the electricity department’s personnel who did not neutralize this fallen wire.
Sources said when there is the fall of electricity wire on ground there is the automatic tripping of power supply but here the power supply was on.
Rahul Purwar MD Jharkhand Vidyut Vitran Nigam said ‘ An unidentified man was cutting a branch of a tree and that branch fell on this 11,000 live wire as a result of which this wire sagged down when these four on the bike came and got in contact with the wire leading to their instant death.
Rahul Purwar said the fallen wire was live because it had not broken and was intact but had sagged down because of the pressure of the fallen branch on it. Purwar said the wire sagged and right at the same time the four came on the scene only to meet with this tragedy.
OC Manatu Nayak said the police are looking for the man who so cut a branch of a tree that caused sagging of the wire causing this tragedy.
