A 36-year-old woman inmate of Central Jail Bhopal committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling in the jail premises on Wednesday; she was convicted of killing her two minor daughters at Bilkhiria last year on September 10.
The deceased identified as Savita Kewat was found hanging and was pronounced dead on Wednesday.
This was Savita’s second attempt as she tried to commit suicide after killing her minor daughters but was rescued while committing suicide and rushed to the hospital where she survived.
During the investigation it was found that the deceased killed her two daughters as her father-in-law was consistently pressurizing her husband to abandon her with two daughters as she had undergone sterilization after six kids. He was willing to live with grandson only and not with the granddaughters.
On the day of the incident Savita killed her minor daughters Arati (3) and Kanchan (7) the other kids managed to escape their mother who was on a killing spree.
Savita’s husband used to run a grocery shop while his brother used to live in a nearby house. She killed the children after her brother-in-law left for work.
The couple married around 12 years ago. Savita has long been suffering from abdominal pain and underwent a hysterectomy around six months ago after which she used to report severe abdominal pain and used to live in fear of abandoning by her husband.
