HP Guv, CM felicitate people on Dussehra

Shimla: Himachal Governor Acharya Devvrat and Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh have felicitated the people of the State on the pious occasion of Dussehra. The Governor said Dussehra festival was symbolic of victory of good over evil and hoped the festival would be celebrated with great enthusiasm throughout the State. The Chief Minister has also extended felicitations to the people of the State on this occasion. He wished that the Dussehra festival would bring happiness, peace and prosperity in the lives of the people of the State.

Governor extends Dussehra greetings

Chandigarh: Punjab Governor and UT Administrator VP Singh Badnore extended Dussehra greetings to the people of Punjab and Chandigarh. The Governor said the festival surpassed communal barriers and provided an opportunity to the people to reinforce their bonds of brotherhood, amity and goodwill. “Our nation has an age-old tradition of celebrating Dusshera that symbolises the triumph of good over evil and shows us the way of ideal and virtuous living to carve out a healthy and harmonious society,” he said.

CM greets people on Dussehra & Durga Puja

Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has greeted people on the occasion of Dussehra and Durga Puja, with a call for celebrating these auspicious festivals in a spirit of amity and brotherhood. In his message to Indians across the world, the Chief Minister underlined the message of peace and harmony propagated by these festivals. The age-old tradition of celebrating Dussehra and Durga Puja, which mark the triumph of good over evil, shows us the way to live peacefully and virtuously in an environment of togetherness and tolerance, he added.

CM extends benefit of schemes

Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Manohar lal has approved to extend the benefit of schemes like purchasing of bicycle and sewing machine and leave Travel Concession (lTC) for labourer, whose monthly wages are Rs 18,000, said labour and Employment Minister Nayab Singh Saini. Earlier, Haryana labor Welfare Board was providing benefit of this scheme to labourer employed at industrial and commercial institutions, who were getting monthly wages of Rs 10,000. Therefore, many labourer whose wages were more than Rs 10,000 were not able to take the benefit of these schemes. He said that now, ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh would be given to the family of deceased labour, who died outside their workplace. This was earlier Rs 1 lakh.

BSNl offers 50 per cent ‘cash back’

Chandigarh: Telecom giant Bharat Sanchar Nigam limited (BSNl) has offered 50 per cent “cash back” on recharge of voice STVs on the occasion of Dussehra under prepaid mobile services for 30 days with effect from September 25 on PAN India. Dussehra’s ‘Vijay’ offers include1. 50% “cash back in main account” in the form of talk value on recharge of voice STVs. SK Gupta, CGMT Punjab Circle told “We always come up with extra benefits on festive occasion. On this occasion we are offering up to 50% more talk value along with many FTT offers for all our prepaid mobile customers. Fortis’s Power Your Heart Initiative

Chandigarh: Fortis Hospital, Mohali celebrated World Heart Day by carrying out an awareness campaign titled Power Your Heart. It informed people about precautions to keep heart healthy in a fun-filled event at Elante Mall here. Deep Karan Singh, a popular singer and Prince Rakhdi, a well-known lyricist were the chief guests at the event. The presence of singer Deep Karan as the “Power Your Heart-Youth Icon” for Fortis Hospital Mohali, drew crowds of fans to see a glimpse of him and listen to his hit -singles. He ran over 500 steps on the treadmill to encourage youngsters around him to do the same. The successful ones won heart-shaped key chain.

Elante gets eco-friendly with digital Dussehra

Woolmark, Bhuttico strengthening Handloom

Kullu: The Woolmark Company and Kullu-based handloom weavers Bhuttico have collaborated for a ‘Wool in Handloom’ showcase in Kullu. Fashion designers Dhruv Vaish and Sonal Verma from label Rara Avis presented 30 menswear and womenswear looks, highlighting Merino wool as an eco-friendly and versatile fibre. The Grown In Australia, Made In India initiative highlights the origins of Australian Merino wool, positioning the natural, renewable and biodegradable fibre as the ultimate ingredient in luxury fashion. It also honours India’s traditional, artisanal craftsmanship and promotes the importance of the wool industry within this country.  Acting as mentors to the local weavers, designers Dhruv Vaish and Sonal Verma transferred their design knowledge during the design and manufacturing stages. The fashion showcase took place in Kullu and featured Merino wool garments.

SJVN declared total dividend of Rs 1137.57 cr

Shimla: On account of its annual financial performance for the year 2016-17, SJVN limited has paid a dividend of Rs 733.32 to Govt. of India holding 64.5% equity in the company. SJVN had declared a total dividend of Rs 1137.57 crores for FY 2016-17 which is the highest paid so far. An amount of Rs 599.99 crore has already been paid to Govt. of India as interim dividend and the cheque of remaining amount of Rs 133.33 crore as final dividend is now released. last year SJVN paid a total dividend of Rs 455.03 crore. SJVN declared total dividend of Rs 1137.57 crore to its shareholders

Police, Vigilance pays homage to DSP Rajesh

Chandigarh: Punjab Police contingent presented a guard of honour as a mark of homage to DSP Vigilance Rajesh Kumar during his last rites performed in cremation ground at Chandigarh, who passed away on Wednesday at Chandigarh due to cardiac attack.  Secretary Vigilance Vivek Pratap Singh led the Vigilance Department Punjab in paying floral tributes to Rajesh Kumar, who was credited with outstanding services in the state police. Director Vigilance Bureau Punjab G Nageswara Rao laid a wreath on behalf of Chief Director Vigilance Bureau BK Uppal and IG Personnel V.Neerja on behalf of Director General of Punjab Suresh Arora. Senior officers of Punjab Police and Vigilance including employees and people from all walks of life attended the cremation.

Timings of Govt schools changed from Oct 1

Chandigarh: Punjab Education Department has changed the timings of all the government, private aided and recognized schools from October 1 keeping in view the onset of winter season, said DPI (Secondary Education) Paramjit Singh. The DPI said that the timings of all the primary schools would be 9 am to 3 pm and that of the middle/high/senior secondary schools would be 9 am to 3.20 pm.. The copy of the orders to this effect has been sent to all the circle education officers, district education officers (secondary & elementary education) and school heads.

Rana KP Singh mourns Fotedar’s death

Chandigarh: Punjab Assembly Speaker Rana Kanwar Pal Singh has expressed deep grief over the demise of veteran congress leader Makhan lal Fotedar, who passed away at the age of 85 in Gurugram on Thursday. He was a former Member of Parliament, former Union Minister and a permanent invitee to Congress Working Committee. Rana KP Singh remembers the contributions of Fotedar to the nation and the party.
