‘Malti Gyan Peeth Puraskar’ awardees congratulated
Chandigarh: Punjab Education Minister Aruna Chaudhary on Tuesday extended congratulations to 15 teachers from State Government’s schools who won ‘Malti Gyan Peeth Puraskar’. The teachers were conferred with the awards on Monday evening at the Rashtrapati Bhawan by the President Pranab Mukherjee. “This award is testimony to the devotion of these teachers to their profession,” she said expressing confidence that this award would act as a catalyst for the teachers to strive for further excellence which would also inspire other teachers.
Haryana cabinet meet rescheduled for Jun 1
Chandigarh: Haryana Cabinet, which was scheduled to meet under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Manohar lal on May 31, would now meet at the same venue on June 1 at 11 am.
Chandigarh Chemist Assn joined strike
Chandigarh: Chandigarh Chemists’ Association on Tuesday reaffirmed its full-fledged support to the nationwide strike of All-India Organization of Chemists and Druggists Association. The major issues are online sale of medicines, e-portal, D Pharma must for wholesale chemist, renewal of license. CCA president Vijay Anand said that all 600 medical stores of Chandigarh remained closed in support of the strike call. We apologize for inconvenience caused to the public but we are helpless because if new laws gets implemented our survival would be almost impossible.
Workshop on ‘Entrepreneurship in Agri’ held
Tarn Taran: Krishi Vigyan Kendra of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University on Tuesday organized one-day workshop on ‘Entrepreneurship in Agriculture and livestock Farming’. Tarn Taran Deputy Commissioner DPS Kharbanda was the chief guest of the programme. More than 250 progressive farmers from Tarn Taran and other districts of the Punjab participated in the programme. The workshop mainly focused on value addition, processing and marketing of agriculture and livestock produce. Deliberations were made through technical sessions, presentations and interaction by the scientists, experts and progressive farmers and farm women.
MGSIPA empaneled as training entity
Chandigarh: Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration (MGSIPA), Punjab, has been given the status of ‘training entity’ by the Union Ministry of Urban Development for individual capacity building for the urban local bodies’ functionaries in the state of Punjab. MGSIPA director general and Special Chief Secretary Sarvesh Kaushal said that the programme has been launched by the Centre to strengthen the capacities of UlBs, State Governments and other stakeholders for efficiently rolling out Urban Flagship Missions. The Ministry has empaneled 30 training institutes all over the country to execute the capacity building programmes.
