Amulya Patnaik new Delhi Police chief
New Delhi: Odia IPS officer Amulya Patnaik was on Monday appointed as Commissioner of the Delhi Police, according to a notification issued by the Union Home Ministry. Patnaik, an Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territory (AGMUT)-cadre 1985-batch IPS officer, was serving as the Special Commissioner (General Administration) in the Delhi Police earlier. He would take over charge from Alok Verma, who, a few days back, was appointed as the CBI. He would receive a pay scale of Rs 2,25,000 (fixed) per month from the date of assumption of the charge.
Prayer held for Hirakhand mishap victims
Bhubaneswar: The Clean India Charitable Trust held a candlelight rally here on Sunday to pray for the souls of those killed in the Hirakhand Express accident and lucknow school bus mishap and quick recovery of the injured ones. The procession from the Satyanagar Kali Mandir concluded at Ram Mandir Square. It was inaugurated by local Corporator Bhanupriya Das. Two minutes’ silence was observed for the deceased’s souls to rest in peace. loknath Panda and Prakash Chandra Samal spoke on the occasion. Trust chairman Biswaranjan Ray offered a vote of thanks. Members Tusar Kant Patnaik, Rama Chandra Mohanty, Debanjan Mandal, Sasmita Mallick, Sasmita Swain, Bijaylakshmi Tripathy, Sashisekhar Das and Pradip Ray coordinated the event.
Birla Global University celebrates R-Day
Bhubaneswar: The Birla Global University (BGU) celebrated the Republic Day. BGU advisor Dr BK Das and BIMTECH director Dr P Nayak unfurled the Tricolour in the presence of faculty and staff members. Students performed different cultural activities. Meritorious students were awarded on the occasion.
