A top zonal commander of CPI (Maoist) Aenul Khan alias Govind ji of Madhya Zone surrendered with a gun before police on Wednesday along  with Commander of TPC Roshan alias Ajay Prasad Sao.

As per the surrender policy of the Government, Khan was given Rs 11 lakh while Roshan got Rs 50,000. Palamu DIG Vipul Shukla informed that Khan has 21 cases against him and was operating interstate, covering Bihar,  whereas Roshan’s tally was 24 of which 14  cases are registered in Garhwa district.

Palamu SP Indrajeet Mahatha thanked their wisdom to return to the mainstream. “They will have to face prosecution. law will take its own course. They will have to be accountable to law of the land.”

The DIG added that the police were determined to arrest Khan. “I asked the SP to go slow. In the meanwhile I kept talking to Khan’s wife Sarwari Khatoon. It finally paid the dividend,” said Shukla adding that Khan’s wife met him more than half a dozen times.

Khan’s exit from Madhya Zone of the Maoists is being seen as a severe blow to CPI Maoist. The DIG said the Madhya Zone is to collapse sooner now. This is the first ever surrender of any top Maoist of the Madhya Zone. Khan’s naxal history dates back to 2005.
