The decision of Vaibhabh Saboo to donate his cornea after death not just made him immortal but has also given a fresh lease of life to someone. Similarly, a kind gesture of Anju Nigam has proved a boon and has filled hope in the life of an unknown person. With the aim to create a difference in society, the noble step of donating eye is not merely taken up by these two crusaders but also by the other 11 advocates.
Notably, 11 out of 13 donors had expressed their desire to donate eyes on their own and eyes of two of them were donated by their families inspiring others to take up the noblecuase
In yet another splendid attempt to create awareness about eye donation and to bring light in the lives of several people who lost their eyesight or else are facing challenges due to partial blindness, Kashyap Memorial Eye Hospital (KMEH) is all set to organize its annual ‘Run for Vision’ programme on September 2.
“Taking our initiative ahead, the ‘Run for Vision’ programme is being organized this year as well. All these 13 eye donors have set an example for the society by conveying the message of compassion in true sense,” said eminent ophthalmologist and Founder Director, KMEH, Dr. Bharti Kashyap during a press meet on Wednesday.
Getting bigger and better with every passing year, the programme aims to rope in quite a number of people and also plans to inform them about several ailments besides making people aware about several social initiatives taken up by the hospital annually. As the tagline of ‘Run for Vision’ suggests ‘Ek Sarthak Drishti’, the programme is being organized, under the aegis of 32nd edition of national eye donation fortnight plan.
This year, the ‘Run for Vision’ programme will be flagged off by Governor, Draupadi Murmu, in the presence of Minister, Health and Family Welfare, Ramchandra Chandravanshi including Minister, Social Welfare and Women Empowerment, louise Marandi on September 2. The event will initiate from Ursuline Convent to KMEH in the morning. Taking the mission and vision ahead, 13 eye donors’ family members will be felicitated by the Governor and the ministers to mark the occasion.
The programme being organized in association with Indian Medical Association (IMA), Jharkhand Chapter will ensure the participation of students.
