A 12-year-old girl was captivated and sexually assaulted by her neighbour late in the night of Saturday at Geeta Nagar under Chhola Mandir police station area; a case was registered on Monday after victim lodged complaint said police.

According to the police the minor victim was captivated by her neigbhour Devi Singh and was sexually assaulted. After she was assaulted the accused told her to keep mum and not report the incident to anyone.

The matter was reported to Chhola police on Monday following which a case was registered against the accused under the relevant sections of IPC and POCSO Act. He has been arrested by the police.

SHO Chhola Police Pankaj Dwivedi said that the accused and victim’s family live in the same house as tenants. At the time of the incident Singh’s wife and children had gone to their parents’ house.

In her complaint the victim stated that late in the night on Saturday at around 3 am she went toilet where the accused captivated her took her inside a room and sexually assaulted her. Feared from the incident victim did not report the incident till Monday when her mother found her disturbed and not responding properly she asked her and the victim reported the atrocity to her.

Police said that the victim used to live in the same house as tenant in which the accused lives as tenant.

The police have registered a case under section 376, 363, 506 of the IPC and section 5 and 6 Protection of Children from Sexual Offences and have started further investigation.

Crime record of the accused would be searched in the further investigation.
