Around 10,000 BEd teachers under the aegis of the BEd Sikshya Sahayak Sangha, Odisha on Saturday held a rally here demanding TGT (Trained Graduate Teacher) status and Basic Pay of Rs 9,300 plus Grade Pay of Rs 4,600 to all BEd teachers working in the upper primary schools.
The Sangha demanded creation of a staff pattern for appointment of BEd teachers in Headmaster posts and as Science, Hindi, Arts and Sanskrit subject teachers in upper primary schools.
The other demands include separation of Classes-I to V from the UP schools and detaching Class-VIII from all high schools and combining them with the UP schools.
later, a representative team comprising Sangha president Ajaya Dhal, secretary general Umesh Chandra Nayak, working president Duryodhan Das and general secretary Debendra Nayak met School and Mass Education Secretary Ranjana Chopra and placed their demands. In response, Chopra assured them to consider their demands at the earliest, said Sangha functionaries in a statement.
Among others, Sangha Puri district president Kalandi Jena, State convenor Purna Chandra Khatua, spokesperson Ajay Biswal, vice-president Nrusingha Charan Sahoo, Niranjan Samal, Chinmaya Chirasundar Samal and Jagdish Behera coordinated the programme.
