Members of the Core Committee of the BJP in Karnataka led by State party president BS Yeddyurappa on Wednesday held a meeting with State RSS leaders in Bengaluru. The meeting which assumes significance after national president Amit Shah’s recent visit to Bengaluru to work out a strategy to counter the ruling Congress in the ensuing Assembly polls to make “Congress-Mukta Karnataka”.

According to sources in the party, the Core Committee met the RSS leaders as a follow up meeting to sort out various issues — including infighting — as advised by Amit Shah. Even though the party is going to polls under lingayat strongman BS Yeddyurappa, he has been asked to take everyone together to face the Congress led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. According sources, Shah was upset with the infighting which has caused a major damage to the party also wants no parallel power in the party. Union Minister Javdekar has been made election in-charge of the State and asked the State party about the programmes to reach the voters.

Opposition leader in the legislative Council KS Eshwarappa had questioned the way of Yeddyurappa taking important decisions, including appointment of BJP district presidents, without consulting other Core Committee leaders. He had even floated Sangoli Rayana Brigade despite there was warning against it and he had dared Yeddyurappa to take action against him. However, he shelved the Brigade following advice by Shah.

The decision of the party high command to give more power to RSS face and general secretary Santhosh who is known for his organisational skills, the party has taken control over one sided decisions taken by Yeddyurappa.

Meanwhile BJP is compiling a charge sheet against the ruling Congress government led by chief minister Siddaramaiah. Yeddyurappa said “The party is in the process of collecting and collating instances of corruption in various departments as well as the government’s alleged collusion with the land mafia to prepare the charge sheet.”

He said the charge sheet, which would be prepared meticulously, would expose the alleged collapse of governance with precise instances and also deteriorating law and order situation, including the murder of RSS workers. After preparing the charge sheet, efforts would be made to take it in the form of pamphlets to every household in the State through party workers, he said. The BJP is also having a rath yatra in Mangaluru and other districts against the murder of  RSS workers.
