Send kids to Govt schools: Yogi

Monday, 31 July 2017 | PNS | Lucknow

Advocating that people should send their children to Government schools, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that all the people should avail the facilities made available by the State Government.

“This is the Government of common people. It would be better if all the children study in Government primary schools. I myself has studied in Government school and has reached to this position from there,” Yogi said while addressing a RSS sponsored Guru Dakshina programme held at Nirala Nagar here on Sunday.

Yogi had his basic education in State run school in Thangar in Uttarakhand. later he took admission in garhwal university from where he passed M Sc (Mathematics).

“This BJP led alliance government in UP is not of any particular person but it is the government of all and everyone should participate in all the welfare programmes," Yogi said while suggesting that all children should study in the Government schools. He is the first Chief Minister in last two decades who has suggested that children should be got to government school. On August 20, 2015 Allahabad High Court had created a furore when it suggested that officers should send their children to government schools. The order was given by single judge Justice Sudhir Agarwal.

In that order Court had directed Chief Secretary to work out the modalities, within six months, to ensure that all government servants send their children to primary schools run by the state basic education board. The list includes members of the judiciary, government officials, semi-government employees, employees of local bodies and representatives of people. "It is not difficult to understand why the condition of these schools have not improved… There is no real involvement of administration with these schools. Any person who has some capacity and adequate finances sends his child/ children to elite and semi-elite primary schools, whether it is the district collector or the police chief or any other government servant," it said.

Nothing happened after that order. The Chief Secretary passed an order which had no impact on administration.

CM did not elaborate whether he will pass an administrative order but said: "I too have studied in government school and if everyone study there automatically the standard of the government schools will improve."

The CM, who gave Guru dakshina to his senior RSS leaders and said it is guru - sishya relationship which is embedded in the spirit to honour the Guru.

Al teast 10 ministers of Yogi's cabinet also attended the function.
