On a day when he appeared before a court in Maharashtra’s Bhiwandi city in connection with a defamation case filed by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leaders, Congress vice-president lashed out at the RSS and the BJP in an election rally speech in Goa’s Mapusa town, while also promising to deliver a corruption-free and inclusive Government in the coastal State.
“I do not know what is the reason. They do not smile. They speak well. But it appears that the world is angry. like how people are happy in Goa, they are angry. I thought about it a lot. People of BJP ideology, why are they so angryIJ The answer is, they think they know everything,” he said.
“In Parliament, when there is discussion they say ‘you do understand this’. They believe they know everything. And what happens is when the truth emerges to be something else they get angry,” Rahul said.
Recalling his appearance on Monday morning at the Bhiwandi court, following a defamation suit filed against him for alleging that the RSS was linked to the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi, Rahul said the Congress leaders who had accompanied him to the courtroom were all smiles and carefree, while the RSS leaders who had filed the defamation case against him were solemn.
“Today I was in Bhiwandi. My case is going on. My RSS case. There were Congress people. I was there. Ashok Chavan was there. Sanjay Nirupam was there. (both Maharashtra Congress leaders) The man who had filed the case was sitting behind me. Their other folk were there too. Where members of the Congress were smiling, RSS leaders wore grim faces,” Rahul said.
The Congress VP also hit out at Modi accusing him of not listening to the voices of others, while also calling him a liar on issues related to employment generation and elimination of corruption.
“But Modi has not told anyone, speak out your ‘Mann ki Baat’... Did Modiji ask anyone in Goa, tell me what is in your heart. This is not Modiji or RSS or BJP style, but this is the Congress style,” Rahul said.
Referring to a poll speech made by Modi on Saturday, when the Prime Minister said the BJP-led Government in Goa had provided ample jobs and wiped out corruption, Gandhi said, “The whole of Goa knows that the Goa Government did not give jobs to youth and yet PM says it.”
