Firebrand BJP Rajya Sabha member Vinay Katiyar demanded that Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav too be made an accused in the Babri mosque demolition case.
“The CBI should file a case against Mulayam Singh because he has given a statement that he had ordered police to open fire in which 16 people were killed. This statement is a confession and action should be taken against him,” Katiyar said while talking to reporters in lucknow on Tuesday.
Katiyar was in the city to appear at a Special CBI Court in connection with the Babri Mosque demolition case. The court granted bail to him and 11 others, including lK Advani but framed charges against him.
“Nobody destroyed the Babri mosque. Former Chief Minister of UP Mulayam Singh ordered firing on kar sewaks. He was the one who ignited the fire and Yadav does not have any remorse. He has openly said 16 people were killed in the firing,” Katiyar said and added that the CBI should file a case against Yadav ‘for owning his crime’.
Katiyar said that the CBI was trying to frame him and others like Advani and Dr Murli Manohar Joshi in a false conspiracy case where as the fact was that there was no conspiracy. “What had happened there (in Ayodhya) was ‘jan aakrosh’ (people’s anger) because of Mulayam Singh Yadav. We are clear in our mind that there was no conspiracy. What happened there was spontaneous,” he said.
