Strongly rejecting the idea of tinkering with the status of Article 370 which grants special status to the State of Jammu and Kashmir in the Constitution of India, J&K Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Monday said Article 370 would be preserved in its form and efforts to dilute it would not be allowed.
In a veiled snub to her alliance partners in the State, Mehbooba cautioned against the activities of some elements trying to disturb peace in the State. She said Article 370 represents the pluralistic ethos of the State and disturbing it would go not only against the interests of the State and but the country as well.
Replying to the discussion on demand of grants for the Departments under her charge, the Chief Minister appealed members cutting across party lines to play their role in countering the activities of such elements.
