Even as the Telangana administration initiated measures to take back about 8 acres of land illegally occupied by Dera Sacha Sauda of controversial Godman Gurmeet Singh, the left parties have demanded that the entire land of nearly 50 acres of the organisation should be reclaimed.

A large number of workers of Marxist Communist Party of India and front organisation held a protest demonstration on Wednesday at the site of the proposed Dera at Velimedu village under Chityala Mandal in Nalgonda district.

They made a bonfire of flexis and CDs of the controversial Baba Gurmeet Singh who was awarded 20 years of imprisonment by a court  for raping two women.

The leftist workers demanded action against those who had illegal built some shelters over the land. They also planted red flags on the land.

Earlier the state revenue department took back 8 acres of assignment land allotted to the poor and illegally occupied by the supporters of Gurmeet Singh. People belonging to DSS had purchased 56 acres of land from 2005 to  2015 as Gurmeet had planned to set up an Ashram, school, college and old age home at the spot.

However local farmers were not satisfied with the administration taking back only 8 acres of lan as they say much more land was illegally occupied by the Dera people.

Chityala Mandal Revenue officer  Vishalakshi said that the survey has shown about 8 acres of land as “assigned land”.

“We will have to do fresh survey to find out the exact extent of assigned land in this property”, she said.
