New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday barred a woman and others from filing any PIl in any court in the country for making President Pranab Mukherjee as a party in her case and termed her petition as “absolutely malicious, vexatious and unjusticiable”.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday directed all State Governments to file affidavits within two weeks affirming whether they would implement the Centre’s Master Plan for Artificial Recharge to Ground Water in India, 2013. A Bench comprising Chief Justice JS Khehar and Justice NV Ramana passed the direction after Additional Solicitor General PS Patwalia, appearing for the Centre, said copies of the 2013 Master Plan have been supplied to the States.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday said that it would hear a plea challenging the allotment of two houses in lucknow to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav after the upcoming Assembly polls in the State. “This is a PIl. Now there are elections in Uttar Pradesh. We will post this PIl (for hearing) after the elections,” a bench comprising Chief Justice JS Khehar and Justice NV Ramana said.
225 people apply for info commissioners’ post
New Delhi: Around 225 people have applied for two positions of Information Commissioners at Central Information Commission. While MA Khan Yusufi’s term has already ended, Basant Seth will be completing his tenure as Information Commissioner on February 16. Responding to an RTI application, the Ministry of Personnel has, however, refused to disclose for now details of applicants for the positions citing exemption clauses which allow withholding records of deliberations of the Council of Ministers, Secretaries and other officers and which relate to personal information.

New Delhi: Expressing concern over a series of rail mishaps in the recent past allegedly due to outside interference, the Railways on Monday said it was becoming a soft target. “I feel that Railways is the most soft target. I do not have any problem in accepting it,” Minister of State for Railways Manoj Sinha said at the sidelines of a function here. He, however, hastened to add that although law and order is a state subject, the Centre was making all out efforts to prevent terror-related activities.
