The 21-year-old woman, who was brutally stabbed by her jilted lover and his cousin in her residence in the Najafgarh area of the Outer Delhi, succumbed to injuries at the Safdarjung Hospital on Monday after struggling for life for ten days. The victim Anu was a teacher at a play school.
The girl was allegedly stabbed 12 times by one Amit (25) and his cousin Basant (19) around 2 am on January 18. She was alone at her house when she was attacked. Both the accused were arrested on January 19 by the Delhi Police.
After the post-mortem at the mortuary of Safdarjung Hospital, the victim's body was handed over the family.
Investigation has revealed that main accused Amit, son of a Delhi Police officer, was in relationship with Anu. After Amit had got married with another girl three months back, Anu refused to stay in touch with him. Enraged over her refusal, Amit meticulously planned the murder and purchased two knives to execute it, police said. He even befriended with the victim's brother Rohit so that he can enter her house easily.
On the day of the incident, the accused sent Rohit outside on the pretext of some work. He then entered the house along with his cousin Basant and attacked Anu.
The victim's niece, who was playing outside the house, saw Amit brutally stabbing her aunt, police said. The niece alerted the neighbours but the accused had fled by that time, they said.
Critically injured, she was rushed to the Safdarjung Hospital where the victim was treated for a severely damaged ear and deep cuts on her face and chest.
Both the accused were arrested on January 19 and the weapon used at commission of crime have been recovered.
