In view of immersion of Goddess Durga idols in the city on Saturday, the Delhi Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory stating that due to idol immersions at the seven ghats in the national Capital, traffic jams can be expected at roads such as Mandir Marg, Panchukian road, Connaught Plce outer circle, DDU marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar marg from 1 pm till 5 pm.
Similar traffic snarls can be expected at CR park, Outer ring road from Chirag Delhi flyover up to Mathura road, Maa Anandmai Marg, Nehru Place and Josip Broz Tito marg during 1 pm to 5 pm.
Garima Bhatnagar, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) said, “Traffic will be affected on roads like Ring Road/Outer Ring Road from Rajghat upto Burari via ISBT, Majnu Ka Tilla, Boulevard Road, Wazirabad Road including Wazirabad Bridge, Yamuna Bridge- Vikas Marg from 2 pm to 8 pm.
Similar scenes can be expected at Pushta Road Gandhi Nagar, Khajuri Pushta Road, Sonia Vihar Pushta Road, Mathura Road, G.D. Birla Marg (Road No. 13A) from 3 pm till 8 pm.
Immersion of idols will take place at these seven ghats. Yamuna Ghat at Yamuna Bazaar, at Wazirabad, at Kudesia Ghat and Geeta ghat, at Hathi Ghat (ITO), Kalindi Kunj, Geeta colony and Mayur Vihar. Small scale immersions will take place at Haiderpur Canal, Bawana Nahar, Bhalaswa lake and at other water bodies in Delhi.
Apart from that the traffic police has issued general instructions like Commercial vehicles and buses coming from Mukarba Chowk side will not be allowed on Wazirabad bridge and will be directed towards ISBT bridge from 2pm on Saturday.
