The Uttar Pradesh Power Corp ltd (UPPCl) has launched a massive drive to realise its pending bills before the close of the financial year on Friday.
UPPCl staffers have disconnected 2,000 connections, realised `80,000 penalty from eight power thieves and lodged FIRs against 152 others.
UPPCl Chief Engineer SK Gupta said realising the outstanding amounts was the priority. So we launched the drive to increase our revenue before the closure of the financial year.
“In the last two days, over 20,000 connections of consumers were disconnected who did not pay their outstanding bills and punitive actions were taken against them. The drive was so effective that as many as 1523 connections were disconnected in a single day operation”, he said.
