Sex rackets being operated in spa and massage centres in DT Mega Mall, Metropolitan Mall and The Grand Mall of Gurugram were busted on Wednesday night. Police have arrested 10 women, aged between 20 and 25, and one man. They have been booked under different sections of the Immoral Trafficking (of women) and Prevention (ITP) Act.
Acting on a tip-off, raids were conducted at the mall premises by three different police teams from the East zone. The first team, led by ACP Anil Yadav, conducted a raid at Balneno Spa in DT Mega Mall and arrested three women who were soliciting sex.
The second team headed by ACP Harender Kumar raided the Relax Spa in Metropolitan Mall and nabbed two women while the third team led by ACP Pankhuri Yadav conducted a raid at The Grand Spa in The Grand Mall and arrested five girls and their male accomplice. The spas would charge `1,000 to 2,000 per customer for the services. The massage centres were owned by some businessman, the police said.
For the past several days the police had been receiving complaints about a prostitution business being carried out in these spas. “At the time of the raid, several rooms in the centre were occupied where women and men were found in objectionable positions. The rooms were also found locked from inside,” a police spokesman said.
