Newly-wed raped, filmed by in-laws

Thursday, 31 August 2017 | Staff Reporter | New Delhi

Newly married 25-year-old Nita (name changed) like any other bride had dreams about her new married life. However, her dreams were completely shattered after she entered her new home where she was raped by her father-in-law.

The man also clicked her objectionable pictures and continued to exploit her for months. Apart from being raped by her father-in-law, she was allegedly raped by her brother-in-law and was forced to establish physical relation with other men who visited their house. If that was not enough, she was repeatedly sodomised by her husband.

The incident came to light after four months of her marriage, when the woman, brutally raped and beaten by her in laws was kicked out of their house in East Delhi’s Ganesh Nagar area.

Narrating her ordeal to the police, the woman claimed that she got married to one Nishant Sharma on April 29 this year. “The next day, i.e on April 30, when I stepped into my in-laws house, Nishant Sharma offered me a cold drink laced with sedative following which

I lost consciousness and was raped by my father-in-law RR Sharma,” she said.

The woman claimed that at the time of her marriage, Nishant’s family had introduced RR Sharma as her father-in-law. However, right after the marriage, she got to know the real name of her rapist father-in-law was Rajiv Tyagi.

The woman further said that Rajiv Tyagi raped her and clicked her objectionable pictures and threatened to upload them on Facebook if she told anyone in her family about the act.

Further, when the 25-year-old woman approached her mother-in-law, Renu Sharma, she turned a deaf ear to her. She then informed her sister-in-law about the rape on April 31. However, the victim’s sister-in law threatened her to stay quiet and took away her cell phone.

A few days later, my husband, Nishant Sharma, his mother and her boyfriend took me in a car to Manali on the pretext of “Honeymoon”. Here too, Rajiv Tyagi forced me while my husband stayed in another room with his mother,” said the victim.

“I was stopped from keeping in touch with my family.  Without cell phone, I was held hostage at my in-laws house. It was four months later that is on July 16, they thrashed me and on July 19, my brother-in-law Vikas raped me,” she said.

A few days later, they pointed a gun at me and forced me to write a letter to my family saying, “In future, if I die, no one from my in-laws family would be responsible for my death”.

It was on July 23 that Vikas, Rajiv Tyagi, Nikita (sister-in-law), Nishant and Renu Sharma (mother-in-law) thrashed me and kicked me out of the house. They called my parents saying that I have ran away. When my parents came here, they misbehaved with them. I told my parents everything and my father then made a call to the police.

Police has registered a case under Section 376, 506 and 34 of the IPC at the Shakarpur area police station. No arrests have been made so far, police added.
