An 11-year-old mentally challenged girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by her neighbour at her house in Outer Delhi's Mianwali Nagar area. Police said that the incident came to light on Tuesday afternoon when the younger brother of the girl saw the accused trying to touch her inappropriately, following which he informed their mother.
The mother of the victim alleged that though her daughter was unable to tell her what exactly happened, but she managed to express that the man had been touching her inappropriately for the past five days.
A senior police officer confirmed that the accused, identified as Shankar Singh, the son of the flat owner where the victim lives with her family, has been arrested.
Police said that the victim lived with her parents and two siblings in Mianwali Nagar slums.
Since her parents, who work as labourers used to go out for daily chores, they left their three children behind.
Police said, “As per the mother of the girl, the 11- year-old managed to convey that the man has been coming to the house in the absence of the family members and has been touching her inappropriately for the past five days.”
