The national Capital on Thursday witnessed the hottest morning of the season in the past five years at 23.7 degrees Celsius.
In weekly forecast, Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light rainfall on April 5. “At 23.7 degrees Celsius, six notches above the season’s average, it is the highest minimum temperature recorded in this season in the past five years,” said a MeT department official.
This season has witnessed unusually hot mornings with minimum temperatures crossing the 20-degree mark over the last week. The humidity level was 58 per cent at 8.30 am.
At the different location of the city, instance — Delhi University’s maximum settled at 38.4 degree Celsius, Ayanagar 38.6 degrees, Narela 37.5 degrees and Ridge at 39.5 degree Celsius.
The average maximums for these regions during the month of March are below the 30-degree mark.
As per the private weather forecast company, Skymet , the maximum temperatures is settling at least 5 to 6 degrees above the normal levels. “Delhi at present is witnessing the scorching summer heat with heatwave like conditions in several parts. Now, during the next two days, temperatures will settle well above the normal levels. No relief is in sight for the aforementioned areas for at least 24 hours,” Skymet quoted.
