A delegation of 43 Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MlAs reached lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal residence demanding his approval in the file for the construction of the Mohalla Clinics, leading to a major confrontation on Wednesday.
“The l-G told us that the file is pending with the CM office. But the reality is that the file has been sent by l-G to Vigilance Department, which reports directly to him. The Vigilance Department is sitting on file for almost two months and refused to share it with the Minister-in-charge, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia despite his repeated reminders,” said one of the AAP MlAs.
MlA Greater Kailash, Saurabh Bharadwaj also shared a letter by Health Minister Satyender Jain to the l-G asking him keep clear the files.
Taking the visit of the AAP legislators otherwise, the l-G alleged that AAP MlAs stormed Raj Niwas: “displaying a conduct unbecoming of responsible elected representatives”.
“Despite being given a chronological status of the entire proposal and repeatedly being told by the l-G that the proposal has been returned to the Chief Minister on July 5, 2017 with a request to address the complaints, the MlAs continued to behave in a belligerent manner without any interest in responding to facts and logic,” read the statement issued by the l-G office.
Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia took to social microblogging site Twitter and said that lG office was “misrepresenting facts.”
“l-G office is misrepresenting the facts that CM did not come to meet l-G.... CM offered to come any time in interest of Mohalla Clinic…let’s not wait for another Gorakhpur like tragedy in Delhi. CM has offered to discuss it any time. let all officers be called right now. (SIC),” he tweeted.
“It is sad that despite the file having remained within the l-G’s establishment since there were specific instructions that it should not be shown to the Minister, a factually incorrect impression has been created that the file is pending with the Government,” read a statement from Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
The statement from the l-G alleged that while the Governor was giving a patient hearing to the AAP legislators, the latter’s “behaviour increasingly became rude and discourteous.”
It further stated that l-G also spoke to the CM with a view to resolve the matter and explained that in a democratic Government, decisions are taken on the basis of facts as per law on file and there is no file currently pending with the lG office on the subject.
The AAP legislators counter alleged that the police presence was intimidating inside the Raj Niwas where they camped demanding lG clears the file.
“The file on Mohalla Clinics has been stalled on frivolous grounds by the departments under your control...Please do not treat it as a matter of personal ego instead we all should sit around the table along with officers and move forward for the welfare of people,” the letter by AAP legislators read.
