What’s new in Rock On 2IJ
I am reprising my part from the first movie which takes a 10 year leap. There has been many experiences that each characters have gone through which is why everyone has evolved a lot. In part one, you saw Sakshi as a more subtle and sophisticated southern Mumbai girl trying to figure out the problem between Aditya and her. The Sakshi in part 2 is a stronger, matured, pragmatic woman who takes charge of everything. Your will see a lot of layers to the character.
Your look has changed…
From straight hair to the bob-cut look, the change is good. You will see a different get-up.
Sakshi was pregnant in the first part. Do we get to see the baby in this oneIJ

Are you doing anything for the first time in Part 2IJ
It is the first time that I’m actually playing the role of a matured woman who has no idea what it is like to be married to somebody for so many years. There are many things in Aditya and Sakshi’s life that are emotionally conflicting.
Do we get to see love triangleIJ
It’s going to be interesting to see the equation among Sakshi, Aditya and Jiah (played by Shraddha Kapoor). I am not going to call it a conventional love triangle. But it’s going to surprise you what you will see in the movie.

It is a soft number and soothing. We shot it in Shillong during the initial days of the shoot. It set the right mood for the coming days. When this song happened, there was a strange sense of belonging. We are exactly like the friends we are in Rock On and hence it was real.
You sang in Rock On 2…
It was liberating after singing Ajeeb Dastan Hai Yeh in Rock On. I am a bathroom singer. It makes me nervous to sing publically. I wish I had got some training in singing and classical dance as a child.
What has been the biggest learning experience in this filmIJ
There is a manner in which I have had to interpret the scenes. When the camera rolls and the director calls action, you feel you are a different person. For me, it was always the second take where it makes you realise and understand the scene so much better. Everything falls into place and you have a chance to change the way you did the first time.
What do you have to say about the trend of musical filmsIJ
When Rock On was released in 2008, it was a cult of sorts because it was one-of-a-kind movie. Music is a universal aspect and the way this film intertwined music with friendship is amazing. It is so relatable. That’s why a lot of people were able to connect and accepted the film in a huge way. I absolutely love the fact that Rock On started a trend of musical films.
Any role which you think you could play perfectlyIJ
Any and every movie that Julia Robert has done, I would love to do that. All those roles are timeless and phenomenal and I think I can fit perfectly in it. From Bollywood, I would want to act in Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahi and Devdas.
What kind of movies would you like to doIJ
I want to do youth-based films, a love story, a musical drama, a thriller or suspense genre. For some reason, I always get roles which are a lot more subtle. These kinds of roles are very repetitive in Bollywood and in real life, I’m a different person. I would love to do a biopic as it gives you an insight to real lives and there is so much that you can take back from their life. Human stories are interesting and exciting.
Which personality you would like to play in biopicIJ
I would love to do biopics on Astronaut Kalpana Chawla and Maharani Gayatri Devi. There is a vast difference between the background they come from and what they have achieved in life.
Why are you choosy about your filmsIJ
I have always had an option of doing three-four films in a year but I want to be a part of really good projects and work with great people from the industry. The last three years have been a learning experience as I have been part of some beautiful stories. It is unfortunate that they didn’t click with the masses. There have been films which have not got off floor or have been put on hold half way. It makes you realise how important time is and it makes you choosy.
What do you have to say about the kind of TV shows being airedIJ
TV is in a very sorry state right now. The content is pathetic and there is so much better that we can do. People at home are glued to TV all the time and what they are watching is regressive content. Should not we be giving them something better to watchIJ Is it not a responsibility that you are catering to millions in this country and you have nothing better to showIJ There can be so much smarter an intelligent stuff on TV today.
