The Maharashtra Govern-ment on Saturday signed an agreement with CIDB Holdings of Malaysia under which the latter would invest as much as Rs 10,000 crore in highway projects in the State, including Nagpur-Mumbai Maharashtra Samruddhi corridor.
“CIDB Holdings, Malaysia to invest Rs 10,000 crore in highway projects including Nagpur-Mumbai Maharashtra Samruddhi corridor... The proposed Samruddhi corridor is our Govt's path breaking initiative as we believe that good roads are key to infrastructure,” Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis tweeted.
Judin Bin Abdul Karim, president CIDB Holdings, Malaysia and Chief Secretary Swadheen Kashtriya were present when the agreement was signed. “I welcome CIDB for this association with GoM & contribution in Samruddhi corridor, which will create history in the years to come,” the Chief Minister said.
CIDB Holdings, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Construction Industry Development Board Malaysia (CIDB Malaysia), as an agency under the Ministry of Works of Malaysia promotes and stimulates the development, improvement and expansion of the Malyasia’s construction industry.
The 793 km Nagpur-Mumbai Super Communication Expressway will connect Nagpur, Amravati, Aurangabad, Ghoti with Mumbai. The eight-lane will be completed in a time-bound manner by 2019-2020.
Expected to cost over Rs 30,000 crore, the Expressway will benefit 22 district. The expressway will reduce the travelling time between Mumbai and Nagpur to eight hours from 16 hours currently. The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation would be the nodal agency for the execution of the project.
