With five notches above normal, Saturday was the hottest day of January with the maximum temperature rising to 27.2 degrees Celsius. Ecologists, however, said global wind pattern is the reason for freak weather situation in the national Capital.
Foggy conditions prevailed in morning hours, leading to cancellation of 46 trains, and delaying 12 Delhi-bound services. Considering the weather database of Indian Metrological Department (IMD), in January last year, the maximum temperature was 22 degrees Celsius.
While speaking on the phone with The Pioneer, RK Vishav, Group Captain, Delhi Division, India Metrological Department said climate conditions in Delhi depends on the Western Disturbances, “Western Disturbances on the high altitude zones are not active though in coming days temperature will be down,” said the captain.
