After a gap of nearly three years, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will embark on his new yatra from November 9 for which travel plan is being prepared by the officials under the monitoring of the Chief Secretary.
Nitish announced it at a function saying, “I will start my Nishchay (resolve) Yatra from November 9 and tour the State to personally take stock of the ground realities of the prohibition and implementation of the schemes as well as monitor work at public grievances redressal centers. “
During the last 12 years, Nitish has undertaken at least six yatras starting with Nyaya Yatra in 2006. All his yatras were held when he was running Government in alliance with the BJP. The Nishchay yatra will be his first after he formed Government with support of RJD and Congress in November 2015. The major yatras he undertook during his first and second tenure were Vikas Yatra, Vishwas Yatra and Sankalp Yatra during which he had one-to-one contact with people, listened to their grievances and himself monitored the progress on developmental works in remote areas.
The top civil and police officials either accompany the CM or they are summoned to particular places for personal interaction with the common people. The CM said, “When I got to field and meet the people I get energy. When I fail to come to a conclusion on certain public issues I go the masses and seek their opinion. The public contact provides me understanding of the issues and takes inspiration how to solve them. I have a habit that I don’t take any decision alone but love to involve common people. “
Nitish claimed that work on all the poll promises he had made before the assembly election had started and work has been initiated on most of the seven resolves, a few of them already completed and a few more would be fulfilled by November 20.
On November 20, the CM will release the Report Card of his Government on completion of one year. This practice Nitish had started in 2006 and continued till 2015 by presenting the report card of each year which listed the works done by the Government with a roadmap of future planning.
Nitish, who discontinued his decade old practice of appearing before the people at weekly “Janata Darbar “ in April last has decided a new programme. Named as “lok Samwad “ (public dialogue) this will start from December where the Ministers will seek peoples’ viewpoints on certain matters in writing. They will be studied on high level and the crucial aspects would be incorporated in the decision making. A portal will also be launched through which people could send their suggestions. At each meeting, 50 people would be invited on selection of their suggestions to make their presentation.
