The State government has rejected the charges of corruption levelled by Chhattisgarh State Congress Chief, Bhupesh Baghel over the purchase of chopper with Augusta Westland in Chhattisgarh.
Chhattisgarh Panchayat and Rural Development Minister, Ajay Chandrakar said that the helicopter was purchased after calling global tender with complete transport process.
“The objections raised by CAG were examined by Chhattisgarh Assembly’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC). Also, the State government had provided a reply to the CAG,” he said.
According to Chandrakar, the State government had formed a high-level committee. Before purchasing of the chopper, the committee had examined specifications of helicopters manufactured by Bell, Eurocopter, and Augusta A 109.
“According to the geographical conditions of Chhattisgarh, climate, safety and night landing ability, it was decided in January 2007 to purchase Augusta A-109 through a tendering process,” he added.
