The Uttarakhand Skill Development Mission (USDM) organised a skill India product/model exhibition-cum-competition at Women ITI Dehradun on Wednesday. Student from large number of government and private Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) from different parts of the State participated in the exhibition. The trainees exhibited beautiful models and products on the occasion.
In the exhibition 110 students from various trades of ITIs participated and the organizers felicitated the winners after the event. The winners would be given a chance to attend the Skill India Week slated from July 11 to 16, 2016 at Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh.
The team of ITI (Boys) Niranjanpur, Dehradun won the first prize of `10,000 for a model of crankshaft which they had developed. The second prize was won by the boys from Naveen ITI College Haridwar while the ITI New Tehri and Women ITI Dehradun won the third prize jointly.
The Director USDM, Pankaj Kumar Pandey said that the exhibition was organized for the first time in the state and the aim of the programe was to provide exposure to the trainees. He added that the USDM was set up under the guidance of the chief minister, Harish Rawat and aim of the organization is to ensure that more and more youth from the state that are unemployed or drop outs are trained in different skills.The State Government aims to train 6.5 lakh youngsters and provide employment to them under the mission.
