Truck stolen from Joda seized in Baleswar

A dumper which was stolen about 18 months ago from Joda of Keonjhar district was traced in Baleswar.

The Joda police with the assistance of their Baleswar counterpart seized the vehicle and arrested one Satyaban Das, a resident of Padagaon in Khantapara area.

The tipper was engaged in the mining area of Joda and was missing from February last year. The owner of the vehicle Janak Sahu had lodged an FIR with the local police.

During investigation, the police could learn that the driver of the dumper Debendra Mahanta had sold the same to accused Das. The truck was engaged in the Industrial area.

After seizing the vehicle, the police could learn that the vehicle’s engine and chassis numbers were disfigured.

And the current owner, Das was plying the vehicle with fake documents. However, it was ascertained that the vehicle belonged to Sahu which went missing since February last year.

Industrial police station, Baleswar IIC Paresh Rout said a case was pending in Joda police station after its registration on February 25, 2015.

The driver while was booked under the Section 408 IPC, purchaser Das was booked under various Sections of IPC. Mahanta while was arrested earlier, Das was taken into custody by the Joda police, said Rout.
