Governor Ram Naik, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, former CM Mayawati and other leaders greeted the people of the state on the occasion of Deepawali.
In his message, Akhilesh Yadav said that Deepawali was celebrated to enjoy victory over injustice, lies and excesses. He said that people should enjoy the festival with brotherhood. However, he reminded that they should be cautious to danger to environment due to crackers.
Governor Ram Naik too wished a safe and happy Deepawali to all residents of the state.
Meanwhile, Mayatwai vowed to work for the poor and the downtrodden sections if Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) comes to power. Praying for happiness and prosperity in the lives of poor, dalits and downtrodden sections, the BSP chief said that she has always worked to bring smiles on the faces of the poorest of the poor.
Mayawati also appealed to the people not to forget their poor neighbours while celebrating the festival of lights.
