Tension prevailed in Muzaffanagar after a Dadri-like incident was averted following the slaughter of a cow on Saturday morning.
As per reports, Zeeshan Quereshi of Kadali hamlet of Khatauli (Muzaffarnagar) slaughtered a cow inside his house on Saturday morning. The news of slaughter soon spread in the area and angry members of Hindu community started converging on the spot. Sensing trouble, Zeeshan and his family members slipped through the back door of the house and took refuse in a secret location. After failing to lay their hands on Zeeshan, the incensed mob vandalised his house.
Even as the majority community protsted outside the house, local police led by officers reached the spot and somehow pacified the protesters by promising strict legal action. It was only afte the police registered a case of cow laughter against Zeeshan, the protesters dispersed.
Apprehending a communal twist to the sequence of events, heavy police force has been deployed in the area to avert any exigency. Teams were also formed to nab Zeeshan and his family members.
