A youth was hacked to death by some unidentified Maoists in Bhanupratappur block of insurgency-hit Kanker district, police said here on Sunday.
According to the police, Naxals had killed the villager under suspicion that he was working as an informer for the police. A Banner and posters were also found around the body of killed youth.
“Maoists are killing villagers out of frustration, which has exposed their anti-people face. The body of youth after post-mortem has been handed over to the family members of the deceased and we are investigating the case,” Superintendent of Police (SP) Kanker JS Meena said.
The incident happened in Ghotha village about 8 km away from district headquarters. Amrat Hurra (22) son of Samdhar Hurra was killed by a group of 15 to 20 armed Naxals on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday in the village, police said.
Amrat had returned to the village after undergoing imprisonment period for about a year for his alleged involvement in a murder case that had happened last year, Police informed.
On Saturday night while the victim was taking dinner, a group of armed rebels reached his house and took away Amrat forcibly. One or two family members of the deceased were taken along with Amrat but they were released. The youth’s was found on Sunday morning near his house, police said.
