Surguja won the Under-16 football tournament by scoring a goal against Durg in a thrilling finale held at the Netaji Subhash Stadium at NTPC Korba Township on September 27.
The Under-16 tournament that started on September 23 had witnessed participation of teams from ten districts of Chhattisgarh, a NTPC press release informed.
It is to be noted here that the tournaments are being held in five segments after NTPC decided to adopt football in the State under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. The company is all set to give training to the selected players after the five-round tournament. The next round of senior men’s will be held from October 13 to 19.
RK Rout, GM (Operation) NTPC handed over the trophy to the teams. Among others, C Dakshinamurthy, GM (TS), Basuraj Goswami, GM (FM), Debasmita Tripathy, HOHR, HODs, representatives of Unions/Associations were present in post-match award presentation ceremony.
