‘Sureela Safar’ an event of Hindi film songs was organised at Tagore theatre here.
An official spokesperson of Tagore Theatre said that the programme was dedicated to create awareness about ‘Cancer’ especially breast cancer in females. Biswajit, the famous Bollywood Superstar of yesteryear was the star attraction of the event apart from other luminaries.
Biswajit has acted in about 200 Hindi and Bengali films and has given many hit films. Apart from Hindi songs, the show also included the screening of small film on Biswajit.
The programme had about 30 songs from the films of Biswajit; Tumhari Nazar Kyun Khafa ho gayi, Aao huzur humko baharon main le chalon, Pukarta chala hoon main and others.
The programme was participated by amateur and veterans singers from the tricity where including the founding members of the Basant Girija Shree Society and Biswajit paid homage to the musical genius Kishore Kumar by humming one of his songs. The musical extravaganza lasted for a couple of hours till late evening and the performers kept the audience enthralled and enthusiastic.
He said that Basant Girija Shree Society, which organized the programme is a philanthropic society which was established in 2007 by Ranju Prasad, IPos, Advisor-cum Secretary, Finance and SS Prasad Additional Chief Secretary, Food and Supplies.
The society undertakes charitable activities in the sphere of health care, education and healthy recreation through musical programmes by dedicating it to contemporary social issues for generating awareness.
