The mysterious killing of a sub-inspector posted at Shree Krishna Janmbhumi in Mathura was executed to avenge non-refund of cash that the cop took to manage ‘good results’ in Board exams of his killer’s kin. This came to light after a person was arrested by Mathura police on Friday.
As per reports, sub-inspector Nand Kishore Sharma (56) deployed at the Shree Krishna Janmbhumi in Mathura did not report for duty on July 17.
His supervisory officer lodged a report of his disappearance at Govindnagar police station of Mathura. When he did not come the next day, the cops went to his house to enquire but found a lock outside.
The next day, Sharma’s neighbours complained of foul smell emanating from the house after which the police found his body lying inside. A case of murder was registered.
Probingthe case, the Mathura police detained Kanhaiya as the needle of suspicion pointed towards him. During quizzing, Kanhaiya confessed to killing the cop aided by two associates, who are absconding.
Kanhaiya claimed that the sub-inspector took money as advance promising to get ‘good marks’ for his kin Surendra and Monu in UP Board’s High School examination. After the results came out, it surfaced that the cop was only bluffing to make fast bucks. Piqued by this, Kanhaiya pressured Sharma to return the advance since he did not
do the ‘job’.
But when the cop kept on dilly dallying for long, Kanhaiya and his two aides stranguled Sharma at his Mallapura residence on the night of July 15 and escaped. The body was later discovered at his room bythe police on July.
Kanhaiya was sent to jail on Saturday afternoon and now efforts were being made to nab the other two accomplice.
